Using Google Forms for Student Elections

Instead of collecting paper ballots, use Google Forms to tally votes in real time and foster the habit of voting in your classroom. This Google Form can be used for any election, poster contests, or to simply showcase democratic choice.

To adjust the settings of your form to click on the gear box in the top left corner, adjacent to the send box.

Automatically collect the email address of each voter and send response receipts so that students receive a confirmation of their vote.

Limit votes to one per person, guaranteeing a fair election.

Setting the Form to show a summary chart and text response will enable students to view live election results immediately after they cast their vote.

Navigate to the presentation tab to create a custom confirmation message articulating the value of voting and confirming that students have correctly submitted their vote.

Make the vote a required question to ensure that everyone submits their choice.

Shuffle the option order to limit any bias based on the order that candidates are listed.
